Our Tallow Shampoo Bar with Rhassoul Clay & Rosemary moves away from synthetic surfactants — the harsh detergents in most commercial shampoos that strip the scalp's natural oils and create the strip-and-overcompensate cycle. Instead, this bar uses natural tallow, castor oil, olive oil, and coconut oil to cleanse gently while maintaining scalp balance.
Rhassoul clay (a natural smectite clay from Morocco) gently absorbs scalp buildup and excess oil without the aggressive stripping that liquid shampoos cause. Rosemary essential oil has been studied for its effects on scalp health and is a traditional ingredient in hair care. The result is a balanced cleanse — hair feels clean without that tight, squeaky-clean feeling that signals over-stripping.
Why Tallow Shampoo
Most shampoos use SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) or SLES to create lather — these are industrial degreasers that are highly effective but often too effective, stripping the scalp's sebum and triggering overproduction of oil as a response. Tallow-based shampoo bars cleanse without that aggressive action, supporting the scalp's natural balance rather than disrupting it.
What Makes This Bar Different
How To Use
Wet hair thoroughly. Rub the bar between your palms to generate lather, or rub directly onto the scalp in sections. Massage into scalp and hair, then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Follow with an apple cider vinegar rinse (1 tbsp in a cup of water) to help close the hair cuticle and add shine.
Note: If transitioning from synthetic shampoo, the scalp may feel oilier for 2–4 weeks as it adjusts. This is normal and resolves on its own.
