The golden rule: use less
The most common mistake with tallow balm is treating it like lotion. It isn't — there's no water filler, so a pea-sized scoop covers both hands. Warm it between your fingertips until it turns to oil, then press (don't rub) into skin.
If your skin feels greasy twenty minutes later, you used too much. The right amount disappears.
On your face
Night is the easy win: cleanse, leave skin slightly damp, and press in a half-pea of balm as the last step. The dampness helps it spread thin. Morning use works too — give it ten minutes to settle before anything else goes on top.
Hands, heels, and problem patches
For working hands, apply after washing — the times your skin's own oils just got stripped. For cracked heels and elbows, apply generously at night; cotton socks over balmed feet is an old remedy that still wins. For stubborn dry patches, consistency beats quantity: a thin layer twice daily for two weeks.
A complete tallow routine
The full version, if you want it: tallow soap in the shower (cleans without stripping), lotion after (everyday moisture), balm at night (targeted repair), lip balm wherever you are. That's four products and maybe ninety seconds a day — ancestral skincare was never supposed to be complicated.
